Biography

The Collector wasn’t really ever supposed to be a band, initially it was a recording project which guitarist Simon King started with a view to making one album of songs.  Having achieved this, the album “The Be All and The End All” was released in 2009.  In 2010 The Collector re-grouped with an almost entirely new line-up to set about recording album number 2.  Matt Andrews (Classix/Madeira Drive/Everafta – Winners of HDLMA BoTB 2010 & Global BoTB 2005) and Leah Miller (Eight Dirty Pages/Dogs In Space) joined on shared vocal duties.  Simon set about writing the new songs for the album and all recorded instruments were supplied by Simon King with the addition of regulars Gary Holder on Double Bass and Graham Noon on Keyboards.  Matt & Leah laid down vocals with additional backing vocals from Simon and it was off to Eversfield Studios to mix & master the album.  Everyone was so pleased with the results it was time to put this band together for real and play some shows.  The Collector’s first gig with this line-up (before the album was finished) was HDLMA Acoustic BoTB in 2010 where they were crowned champions.  During 2011 album number 2 “Hinterland” was completed and the band set out to gig as often as possible.  “Hinterland” will be available early 2012 and The Collector with regulars Simon King, Matt Andrews & Leah Miller (with Gary Holder making regular appearances on Double Bass & Graham Noon making irregular appearances on keys) can be seen at a venue near you very soon.

The Collector – for the curious, for the thoughtful, for those that lived and survived to tell the tale….
